YunaKuma
๐Ÿป Hi! I'm Kuma.

A cozy bear chat
for everyone.

No sign-up. No phone number. No ads. Just a friendly little cave for talking with the people you love.

Everything a bear needs

Simple enough for a young child. Polished enough for everyone else.

Talk or type

Hold the mic to send voice messages and they turn into text automatically. Tap play on any message to hear it read aloud. Perfect for early readers!

Honey-pot QR codes

Every friend has their own honey-pot QR. Scan or share a link to connect. No phone numbers, no email, no usernames.

Start a den

Make group chats (we call them dens!) with up to 100 family and friends. A cozy space just for your people.

Safe by design

Built-in soft-talk filter. Block and report any contact in one tap. Messages auto-delete after 30 days.

Three small steps

No email. No phone number. About a minute, start to finish.

  1. ๐Ÿป
    1

    Pick a bear

Choose a name and an animal friend. That's your bear!

  2. ๐Ÿ”‘
    2

    Save your magic code

Write down the recovery code we show you. It brings your bear back if you switch phones.

  3. ๐Ÿ‘‹
    3

    Say hi

Scan a friend's honey-pot code (or share a link). Now you can chat, talk, and send Kuma stickers.

Questions parents ask

If yours isn't here, send us a note!

1

Is it free?

Yes! YunaKuma is completely free, with no in-app purchases and no ads. We may add optional supporter features later, but the core chat will always be free.

2

Are there ads?

No, and there never will be. We don't run any third-party advertising, tracking, or analytics.

3

Do you collect my phone number or email?

No. We don't ask for either. Sign-up only takes a display name, an animal avatar, and a recovery code you create. The full list of what we store is in our privacy policy.

4

What age is it for?

YunaKuma is designed for general audiences aged 13 and over. The visual style appeals to kids, and many families use it together, but the app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from under-13s.

5

Can my kid get messaged by strangers?

No. There is no public directory, no search, and no friend suggestions. You can only chat with someone after one of you scans the other's honey-pot QR code or opens a shared invite link.

6

What if my kid bullies someone (or is bullied)?

Long-press any message to block or report the sender. We review reports and can suspend or terminate offending accounts. There's also a built-in soft-talk filter that warns before sending hurtful words.

7

What happens if we lose the recovery code?

We can't recover your account without it. This is by design, so nobody can impersonate you. The app shows the code during onboarding and you can re-view it any time in Settings โ†’ My Profile โ†’ Show recovery code.

8

How do you delete an account?

Open the app, tap Me, scroll down, and tap Delete my account. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your messages, contacts, group memberships, and any dens you created are removed from our servers right away, and your recovery code stops working.
